Two weeks from today, Nacogdoches is going to change once again.

Every year, around this same time, the look of Nac changes, and every year, it looks a bit different. North Street becomes congested with a host of new vehicles. New faces are seen around town.

The stores around town put out new flags and memorabilia. The permanent residents in town watch new arrivals. They are used to this time of change. This is an annual event that defines the town of Nacogdoches.

This time of change has become a tradition that is quickly nearing 100 years of age.  It started in 1923, and the town has never been the same two years in a row.

I'm talking about another year of Stephen F. Austin State University. The class of 2021 will be taking their first steps into college life, and they will get their chance to leave their mark on Nacogdoches, changing the town once again.

As a Lumberjack graduate myself (class of '15), and a resident of Nacogdoches, I'm always excited to see what changes the next group of Lumberjacks will bring about, and what the last group left behind when they headed out.

So now, with less than two weeks to go, we can say "Welcome back, SFA."

And, as always, Axe 'Em, Jacks!
