A Look Back at the Southern Hushpuppy Championships

The 44th Annual Southern Hushpuppy Championships paid out over $2200 cash this past Saturday at the Texas State Forest Festival and one team took home $1500 from that total purse.

The Alice in Wonderland team took home best overall hushpuppies for the $1,000 first prize, plus they claimed the top spot in showmanship, good for another $500. That's a good thing, too, since the Queen of Hearts was seen roaming around the Expo Center threatening to 'off the heads' of her team if they lost. The top three teams claimed cash prizes, while the top 8 overall received plaques. Here are the results of the championship heat.
