Abandoned Newborn Found in Plastic Bag in Houston is in Good Condition

A newborn baby girl was found wrapped in a Wal-Mart shopping bag near a Houston area apartment complex Tuesday night, according to a report from KHOU TV.  The infant is reported in good condition today and breathing on her own.

A nearby resident was walking her dog when the animal became aware of the scent of the baby and led the resident to the bag.  The apartment complex is located in Cypress.

Deputies say the umbilical cord was still attached. The infant was transported to a hospital for observation.
