Annual Tire, E-Waste Collection Day Set for Saturday in Lufkin

This Saturday from 9 am - noon, Angelina Beautiful Clean will be hosting their annual Tire and E-Waste Collection Day. ABC is teaming up with the City of Lufkin and Cook Tire and Service Center for this event.

This is an opportunity for you to bring those tires that have been sitting on your property for months or perhaps years. Just be careful when you're gathering the tires to put into your pick up truck. In addition to the mosquitos that have gathered around the water collected in the tires, there may be a few other critters crawling, creeping, or slithering underneath those tires.

In addition to tires, electronics are also be collected. This does not include computer monitors or TVs, but you're welcome to bring old printers, scanners, Blackberrys, etc...for proper disposal. The drop offs will happen at the City of Lufkin Solid Waste Regional Recycling Center at 500 Southpark Drive. Attendants will be standing by to take the tires and other items from your vehicle.

Here are some of the parameters in place:

- Bring in up to 8 tires at no charge

- $2 for each additional car or light truck tire

- Semi-truck tires $5 each (semi-truck tires not included in the 8 free tires)

- No off-road tires accepted

- No business drop off

- Free disposal of car and small engine batteries

- Electronics may be dropped off at no charge

- Televisions and computer monitors will not be accepted at this time

This is a free service, but donations will be accepted to help Angelina Beautiful Clean continue the great work they do.
