Another Busy Week for TxDOT on East Texas Roads

The road crews at the Texas Department of Transportation have been taking advantage of the dry weather we've been having over the past week, and they'll be out and about again this week.  The following is taken from a TxDOT press release:

TxDOT projects each summer include seal coating pavement surfaces and motorists are beginning to see work crews perform this annual task that is an important part of TxDOT’s preventative maintenance program.

Motorists should remain alert through the nine-county Lufkin District with several seal coating projects scheduled to begin. Ongoing maintenance repairing roadways after recent rains will also continue along with major construction projects that will require lane closures and detours.

Construction and maintenance plans for the week of June 8-12 in the Lufkin District, weather permitting, include:

ANGELINA COUNTY:

• A&NR Railroad Bridge/North Timberland Drive: Continued southbound and northbound lane closures. Traffic is expected to switch to northbound lanes on Tuesday as work to replace the bridge continues.
• US 69 South:  Crews will continue to work between Huntington and the Jasper County line with surface level up and striping to continue through the week.
• FM 3123: Paving work that could have lane closures through the week.
• Various locations: Ditch maintenance.

NACOGDOCHES COUNTY:

• SH 7/US 259: Crews are working on the west loop in Nacogdoches from SH 7 to US 259 in the northbound lane. Motorists should expect lane closures through the week. Resurfacing work for this section is expected to last about two weeks.
• SH 21/FM 226 to FM 3276: Contractor will begin work to complete the reconstruction and widening project.
• US 59: Crews will begin seal coating north of Nacogdoches to north of Appleby.
• US 59 South/Loop 224: Pavement work on the westbound entrance ramp and the retaining wall at US 59 South exit ramp.
• Loop 224: Project cleanup will continue. Crews are working on various cross structures, finishing and restoring driveways through the work area.
• FM 3314: Work continues on paving the widened surface with striping expected to follow shortly.

POLK COUNTY:

• US 59: Patching base failures at various locations. Bracing bridge beams and formwork in preparation for setting bridge deck panels.
• US 287: Safety treating fixed objects.
• SH 146: Striping.
• Various locations: Setting barricades for seal coating.

SAN JACINTO COUNTY:

• US 59: Mill and inlay pavement resurfacing from the Trinity River to FM 223 in north and southbound lanes.
• US 59, FM 1127 and FM 2914: Mowing.
• FM 223: Maintenance crews will work to mill and inlay pavement. Resurfacing from the Liberty County line to US 59.
• FM 3460: Mill and inlay pavement resurfacing from US 59 to FM 2914.

SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY:

• SH 21/US 96: Intersection improvements continue with drainage structures and concrete curb and gutter construction.

SHELBY COUNTY:

• US 84/Texas-Louisiana Bridge: Crews will pour first section of bridge deck on the newly constructed eastbound bridge. Plans continue to come together for eastbound drainage features and intersection work at LA 5.
• Loop 500: Crews are completing striping and back-filling pavement edges.
• FM 139: Safety treat fixed objects.

SABINE COUNTY:

• FM 1: Safety work ongoing including driveway pipes and cross drainage structures on FM 1 and FM 1751.
• FM 1/RR underpass: Installation of a flashing beacon.
• FM 1592: Safety treating fixed objects.
• FM 2261: Safety treating fixed objects.
• FM 3184: Safety treating fixed objects.

HOUSTON COUNTY:

• SH 7: Road rehabilitation and pavement construction with the addition of passing lanes and shoulders to continue.
• FM 2915: Maintenance crews reworking the roadway 5.1 west of FM 230 to FM 230. Traffic reduced to one lane with traffic control in place.
• FM 132, FM 2967 and FM 3151: Road repairs.

TRINITY COUNTY:

• SH 94: Safety treating fixed objects from Trinity to US 287.
• SH 94: Safety treating fixed objects from Groveton to the Neches River.
• SH 19: Repairs and spot seal from Lovelady city limits south to the Trinity County line in southbound lane.
• FM 2781: Removing debris from cross culverts.
