Arlington Lightning Strike Sends MLB Players Sprinting for Cover [VIDEO]
At the time, it was nothing to laugh at, but as you look back at the video (and realize no one got hurt or worse), it's funny to see grown men and professional baseball players scrambling for the dugout and even going so far as hitting the dirt when this lightning strike hits in the immediate vicinity. The game took place last week in Arlington between the Texas Rangers and the Minnesota Twins. It wasn't raining yet, but the extreme strike left no doubt that the game would immediately be delayed.
Some things to watch for in some of the replays towards the end of the video: Watch how quickly the catcher and batter get to their respective dug outs. Watch how the runner on first base drops to the dirt. Even the home plate umpire doesn't wait to check out the well-being of the rest of the players or umpires...he's gone to the dugout.
