Charlie Rose Fired From CBS Amid Sexual Harassment Allegations
Charlie Rose joined the growing list of men whose alleged histories of sexual harassment and assault have been exposed in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal. The 75-year-old host of Charlie Rose and former 60 Minutes correspondent was the subject of a recent exposé in The Washington Post, in which eight women bravely came forward to accuse Rose of sexual harassment and assault. According to a statement from CBS News president David Rhodes, Rose has been officially fired from the network.
Channing Tatum’s ‘Gambit’ Movie Adds Lizzy Caplan
It seems that Channing Tatum’s long-developing — and frequently delayed — Gambit movie is finally back in business. After losing two directors and his leading lady, Tatum took the X-Men spinoff back to the drawing board to re-develop the screenplay. With Fox’s X-Men universe quickly expanding following the success of Deadpool, it looks like the studio is ready to give Gambit the green light, and they’re eyeing Lizzy Caplan to join Tatum.
New Netflix Instant Releases: December 2017
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire…Baby Groot nipping at your toes… That’s right. Netflix is giving subscribers an early Christmas gift in December as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits the streaming service — just in time for your family gatherings (or avoidance thereof). Unfortunately, with Disney set to launch their own streaming service, you won’t be able to enjoy the studio’s films on Netflix for much longer. Thankfully, there are a ton of other great, non-Disney movies hitting the service next month.
Sylvester Stallone Accused of Sexually Assaulting Teen Girl in 1980s
Allegations of sexual misconduct and assault continue to mount against Hollywood men and politicians in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal. Following this morning’s allegations against Senator Al Franken, another prominent and beloved figure has been accused of sexual assault: Sylvester Stallone. According to a recently unearthed police report, the iconic action star and his bodyguard allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl in the 1980s.
Netflix Won’t Confirm Theatrical Release for Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Irishman’
When Martin Scorsese first took his next project to Netflix, it raised more than a few eyebrows. It seemed odd that Scorsese, an outspoken advocate for the theatrical viewing experience and film preservation, would give his new movie to a streaming service. But according to early reports, part of the deal for The Irishman was an agreement to release the film theatrically — giving Netflix a chance to vie for that coveted Oscar and satisfying Scorsese’s artistic integrity. It’s awfully strange, then, that Netflix has yet to confirm a theatrical release for The Irishman.
Final ‘Coco’ Trailer Welcomes You to the Land of the Dead
Chances are, by the time you head home for Thanksgiving, you’ll have already seen Justice League — and let’s be honest, there’s no way in hell your mom is going to see that wacky superhero “stuff,” and no amount of Ben Affleck in a rubber suit is going to change her mind. Good thing the final trailer for Pixar’s Coco is here to remind you that there is another, much more family-friendly option for national Eat Turkey in Sweatpants Until You Collapse Into a Coma week.
Ben Affleck to Donate All Future Weinstein Film Residuals to Charity
Say what you will about Kevin Smith’s recent films or his persona, but there’s no denying that the filmmaker made the right call when he announced his intention to donate all future Weinstein and Miramax film residuals to charity. And now he’s inspired longtime friend Ben Affleck to do the same, as the Justice League star has revealed that he will donate his own residuals from Weinstein films to Film Independent and RAINN (the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network).
Warner Bros. Cuts Ties With Brett Ratner as Rape Accusation Surfaces
Brett Ratner is the latest in a handful of powerful Hollywood men accused of sexual harassment and assault in the wake of extensive allegations against former executive Harvey Weinstein. Following yesterday’s damning revelations about Brett Ratner and his alleged history of harassing and / or assaulting Olivia Munn, Natasha Henstridge and others, the producer tried to get out ahead of an inevitable break with Warner Bros. — which has a first-look deal with Ratner’s RatPac banner. But WB has gone further, officially severing ties with Ratner, who has filed a libel suit against another woman accusing him of rape.
Disney Reveals Full ‘Lion King’ Live-Action Voice Cast
As usual, Disney waited until late afternoon to make a major announcement, but it’s always nice to end the day with some awesome news. Today, it’s the full voice cast ensemble for The Lion King, Jon Favreau’s live-action (-ish) reimagining of the studio’s animated classic — and perhaps the most exciting project on their upcoming (and growing) slate of live-action remakes.
Michael Bay Is Producing a ‘Dora the Explorer’ Movie
Hi, friends! Can you tell us where the Dora the Explorer movie is hiding? Did you say, “In Michael Bay’s bank account”? Very good! …But also: What?! Michael Bay, purveyor of glistening biceps, incomprehensible robo-action and explosives, is producing a a live-action (emphasis on ACTION, am I right) movie based on the popular animated series. You know, for kids.
What’s Leaving Netflix: November 2017
Alright, you know the drill: Just as the Netflix lords giveth, so too must they taketh away — which is to say that as dozens of new movies and TV shows hit the streaming service next month, several will be making their exit…possibly for good. November’s expiring titles include a handful of Wachowskis faves (including The Matrix trilogy), Twilight (sorry, YA lovers), Martin Scorsese’s Hugo, and all nine seasons of How I Met Your Mother.
New Netflix Instant Releases: November 2017
Attention, Chappie fans. Your time has finally come. Neill Blomkamp’s bizarre sci-fi experiment is arriving on Netflix in November. This is truly a momentous occasion for all five of you. As for the rest of us, a bunch of other new titles are coming to the streaming service next month, including Sundance favorite Mudbound, along with the debut seasons of Marvel’s The Punisher and the Steven Soderbergh-produced western Godless.
