Jen Austin

It's fun to pick on the boys in the office, fun to play music, and fun to talk to you all day at work. Thanks for listening! I grew up in a one-stoplight town in rural Nebraska. My whole family still lives there and I love going back to visit them, but I also love Texas. Barbecue, fajitas, and great live music....it's the place to be. I've lived in Texas for 16 years now. Austin, Dallas, and here. I've worked in radio from the moment I graduated from college. (The University of Nebraska...Go Huskers!) I've been on a hundred stations at one point or another. I just love radio. Other things I love....let's see. Blue ink. Black bores me a bit. I love cheddar cheese and barbecue sauce and anything that the two happen to touch. I fall asleep in almost every movie I attempt to watch I have made it through Eat, Pray, Love and Mr. Wright. I like chick flicks. I have an awesome family and love spending time with them. You'll probably hear me talk about my daughters on the air. They're toddler girls who exhaust me, crack me up, and amaze me because I don't think I was ever that smart. I have two miniature schnauzers too. Thanks for stopping by. Now tell me about you.

Hasbro has decided to take the jail out of Monopoly to speed up the game, since sitting in jail causes one to lose turns and wait to play.  What's Monopoly without the jail?!

A good commercial jingle is one that gets stuck in your head and makes you sing it at random moments.  You're doing laundry or taking a shower, or doing some other mundane task, and the next thing you know you're singing the jingle!  EVERYONE knows it.

A group of four students in East Texas came just short of winning a national contest, but may have accomplished the creation of one of those "ear worms."

Some in East Texas Are Camping With Purpose

The Texas Regional Rainbow Gathering is underway in East Texas.  Campers have set up tents similar to these, and the event will run for about two weeks.

The Rainbow Family says on its website it's sometimes referred to as the largest non-organization of non-members in the world.  They have no leaders, and no organization.  And they say, "To be honest, the Rainbow Family means different things to different people. I think it's safe to say we're into intentional community building, non-violence, and alternative lifestyles. We also believe that Peace and Love are a great thing, and there isn't enough of that in this world. Many of our traditions are based on Native American traditions, and we have a strong orientation to take care of the the Earth. We gather in the National Forests yearly to pray for peace on this planet."
