It was a great 1st day of the KICKS 105 Big Bass Splash on Lake Sam Rayburn.  The forecast wasn't very promising, but when it was all said and done this one of the most beautiful days for fishing in quite a while.

There was a multitude of bass weighing 5 pounds or better brought in to the weigh-in site at Umphrey Family Pavilion, but it was Ronnie Sharp's 8.72 pound fish that claimed the first day lead...but there's still a lot of fishing to go.

Two anglers won $5,000 each for bringing in the first exact weight 4.00 and 5.00 bass, however, the 3.00 went unclaimed which means that $5,000 will be drawn for during the closing ceremonies on Sunday.

Here are the top five after day one:

  1. Ronnie Sharp, Lubbock - 8.72
  2. Bubba Henderson, Alvin - 8.59
  3. Bill Noble, Killeen - 8.48
  4. Danny Ferraro, Montgomery - 8.41
  5. Cody Green, Etoile - 8.23.
