The film and TV communities are still reeling from the sudden loss of actor Bill Paxton, especially in light of the Terminator star’s still-active career. Most immediately, Paxton could be seen leading CBS’ Training Day adaptation, of which producers now clarify the late actor’s filming status, and offer comment on his passing.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paxton had formally completed work on the 13-episode Training Day in December, only four episodes of which have aired on CBS. The series was not expected to return for Season 2, given its poor ratings and reception, though the network has not formally commented on its future after Paxton’s death.

All the same, CBS and Warner Bros. offered a statement on the tragic loss:

We are shocked and deeply saddened this morning by the news of Bill Paxton’s passing. Bill was, of course, a gifted and popular actor with so many memorable roles on film and television. His colleagues at CBS and Warner Bros. Television will also remember a guy who lit up every room with infectious charm, energy, and warmth, and as a great storyteller who loved to share entertaining anecdotes and stories about his work. All of us here offer our deepest sympathy to his wife, Louise, and his two children.

Adds Training Day executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer:

We are truly devastated at the passing of our friend Bill Paxton. He was a tremendously talented actor, and a wonderful man beloved by the entire Training Day cast and crew. Bill’s extraordinary body of work ensures that he will never be forgotten. Our heartfelt condolences to Bill’s family and friends. He will be missed more than we can possibly express.

Along with co-stars Justin Cornwell and Julie Benz:

For the moment, it remains unclear if CBS intends to air the full thirteen episodes, but you can catch the Training Day trailer below as we continue mourning Bill Paxton.
