Cats, dogs, along with all types of pets are welcome today on the grounds of St. Cyprian's Episcopal Church for the annual Blessing of the Animals event.  This celebration usually falls near the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi.

St. Francis lived in the 12th century and was known for his love of animals and championed their place as one of God's creations.  His Feast Day is October 4th.

The Blessing of the Animals will be held from 4-6pm Sunday, September 29th at St. Cyprians on the West Loop in Lufkin.  Father Art Callahan will perform the blessings.  There will be animal organizations, rescue groups, carriage rides, free food and drink, “Best Dressed Pet” contest, Look a Like contest for Pets & their Owners, and more!

Please bring all pets on leashes, or if you prefer in a carrier.

You are also encouraged to bring a bag of dry dog food, dry cat food, cat litter, or animal toys. All donations will be distributed to local nonprofit animal organizations.
