So close, yet so far away...that's a good way to describe Blue Bell Ice Cream's return to Deep East Texas.  On November 2nd, the iconic dessert will be making its way into stores within the Phase Two roll out area.

According to a release on Blue Bell's website phase two includes north central Texas (Dallas, Fort Worth and Waco areas) and north central and southern Oklahoma (Tulsa and Oklahoma City areas).

Blue Bell is currently being produced at their plants in Broken Arrow, Okla., and Sylacauga, Alabama.  Production in the much larger facility if Brenham may still be a month or two away.

The roll out of phase two includes several counties close to the Pineywoods such as Freestone, Limestone, and Leon counties, but Angelina, Nacogdoches, and most surrounding counties are part of the phase four roll out and still may not happen until the new year.  Perhaps, a major letter writing campaign to Santa could bring the ice cream to us by Christmas.

For now Blue Bell is producing five flavors of ice cream in the half gallon and pint sizes: Buttered Pecan, Cookies ’n Cream, Dutch Chocolate, Homemade Vanilla and The Great Divide. More flavors will be added in the future. 12-pak Homemade Vanilla Cups and 12-pak Homemade Vanilla and Dutch Chocolate Cups are also available in stores.
