Early Wednesday morning (1:00am), Lufkin Police Department officers and Lufkin Fire Department personnel responded to a vehicle fire at 1604 South Medford Drive in Lufkin, near the location of the Lufkin 1st Church of the Nazarene.  Upon approaching the still burning vehicle, the officers saw a burned body in the remains of the vehicle.  The body appeared to be that of a male but was too burned for the officers to make any further determinations.  The fire damage made difficult the task of identifying the vehicle, the license plates and dash VIN plate were unreadable, but the responding officers believe the vehicle was a Ford F150 truck.

Investigators from Lufkin Police Department and the Lufkin Fire Marshal’s office are investigating the incident.  Anyone with information concerning this incident should contact the Lufkin Police Deparment.
