Update: The boil water notice has now been lifted.

UPDATE (BOIL WATER RESCIND NOTIFICATION

On Monday, April 24th, 2017, the Angelina County Fresh Water Supply District #1 (the District), PWS ID TX0030102, had a 6" water main break resulting in low water pressures. A utility contractor hit the main causing the break. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) required the District to issue a Boil Water Notice (BWN) to inform our customers that due to the presence of contaminants or an interruption in service, water from our system must be boiled prior to consumption. This is the Cedar Grove Area, near F.M. 2251 North of the city of Lufkin.

The District has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore adequate pressure, disinfectant levels, and/or bacteriological quality and has provided TCEQ with testing results that indicate the water no longer requires boiling as of October 6, 2016.

If you have questions, contact Mr. Chris Key, P.E., Operations Division Manager with the Angelina & Neches River Authority at (936) 632-7795 or (877) 420-9075.

If a customer wishes to reach TCEQ, they may call (512) 239-4691.

Here is the official notice we received. I put a map of the effected areas from their websites, and included it below.

BOIL WATER NOTIFICATION

The Angelina County Fresh Water Supply District No. 1 (the District) serves water customers in the Cedar Grove area, near F.M. 2251 north of the City of Lufkin.  On Monday, April 24, 2017, a utility contractor hit the District’s 6" water main resulting in a break causing low water pressures and the District is issuing a boil water notice to its customers.

Due to the District’s water main break, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has required Angelina County Fresh Water Supply District No. 1 (PWS ID Number 0030102) to notify customers of the need to boil their water prior to consumption.

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and making ice should be boiled and cooled prior to use.  The water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.  In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from other suitable sources.

When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the Angelina County Fresh Water Supply District No. 1 water system officials will notify customers when water is safe for consumption.  Instructions to discontinue boiling will be issued in the same manner as this notice.

If you have questions regarding this matter you may contact Mr. Chris Key, Operations Division Manager at (936) 632-7795 or (877) 420-9075.
