According to a release from the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office (NCSO), a Nacogdoches man is in jail after allegedly shooting at his estranged girlfriend during a high speed chase Friday night.

Deputies with the NCSO received a report around 8:30 p.m. of a woman being chased by her boyfriend on Highway 21 West.  The incident started inside the city and continued westward all the way to Alto.

The NCSO reported that during the chase the suspect rammed the victim’s car several times while driving at high rates of speed. It was reported that the suspect shot several times at the victim during the chase while in Nacogdoches County. The victim was able to turn around in Alto and head back toward Nacogdoches.  Deputies located her at the county line and were able to secure her to safety. A few moments later the suspect vehicle was then spotted entering into Nacogdoches County.

The vehicle was stopped and the driver was taken into custody without incident. Also found inside the vehicle was a child who was less than 12 years of age. Deputies conducted a search of the motor vehicle and found a 9mm pistol that was loaded.

After further investigation, deputies observed one bullet hole in the victim’s vehicle that penetrated through the trunk, went through the back head rest and lodged into the driver’s visor. The bullet was recovered.

Christopher Michael Crane Sr., 31, was arrested and charged withr Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon, a 2nd felony, and Endangerment of a Child, a 2nd felony. Crane was booked into the Nacogdoches County Jail.

Child Protective Services was notified and took custody of the child.
