Patience, patience, patience.

Thanks to patience, and one heck of a bear hug, Cash Pierce of Huntington won the mutton bustin' competition Saturday night at the Angelina Benefit Rodeo.

At first, the sheep that Pierce was riding seemed content to just stand around and stare once exiting the chute.  But, the 5-year-old from Huntington stayed aboard and sure enough something caused the sheep to get into gear...all the way across to the other side of the arena floor.  Pierce hung on for the duration for a ride of 96 points.

Here are the results from Saturday night.

  • Triston Bellamy - 83
  • Noah Crawford - 81
  • Adam Dean - 82
  • Adrian Gonzalez - 80
  • Izaiah Martinez - 83
  • Ty Nelson - 87
  • Cash Pierce - 96
  • Brooklyn Sutherland - 82
  • Kaleb Tally - 82
  • Christian Teer - 84
  • Jaycee Dykes - 85
