Merrell in the Morning

UPDATED FOR TUESDAY (1/31) TxDOT is continuing a mill and inlay operation on Loop 287 through today and into tomorrow. The entrance ramp from Chestnut Street onto the loop southbound will be closed today and also the inside southbound lane from US 69 South to FM 58 on Looop 287.

In all the years that I have introduced dogs on our KICKS 105 Pet of the Week Series, I have never seen this breed before.  What do you get when you cross a Welsh Corgi and a German Shepherd?  Meet Riley.

Thursday morning, during our weekly conversation with Rhonda Oaks from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), we learned that a portion of the Loop in Lufkin will be closed beginning next Tuesday, January 24th.

This weekend, the two Texas NFL teams will be trying to punch their tickets to the AFC and NFC championship games.  Saturday afternoon, the Houston Texans will be on the road to take on Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, and on Sunday evening, the Dallas Cowboys will play host to the Green Bay Packers.

Who's ready to do some dancing Saturday night at Banita Creek Hall? The annual Nacogdoches County Area Go Texans Scholarship Dance is taking place and once again, yours truly, Danny Merrell, has been invited to play host to a Dance Hall Saturday Night.

Wednesday morning, the parking lot at the new Brookshire Brothers Express on Highway 94 in Hudson was filled to capacity as events surrounding the grand opening were taking place.

The Angelina Arts Alliance is proud to present Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo LIVE! as part of its Family FunDay Series. The event will take place this Sunday, January 15th for two performances at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. at the Temple Theater on the Angelina College Campus.

The 2nd annual Lufkin Citizen's Police Academy starts at the end of January.  Tuesday morning, Lieutenant Jerry Smith from LPD joined the Merrell in the Morning Show to talk about what all happens at the Academy and how citizens can sign up.

I have quite a collection of vinyl albums that I started hoarding when I still in grade school.  In fact, sitting by an old radio shack turntable and spinning 45's when I was growing up probably had a lot to do with my career choice.
