East Texas Road Update – 12:30pm

The Texas Department of Transportation is still reporting a number of East Texas roads that are a bit on the slushy side. Exercise extreme caution if you have to be on the area roadways.

Also, keep in mind, that with lows tonight near 22, any melting ice could again refreeze and make for hazardous driving in the early morning hours. Check out the complete release of road conditions from TXDOT after the bump.

A wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain has started across East Texas.  A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 6pm on Friday, although most of the precipitation should fall between now and noon on Friday.

East Texas Weather Update – 4:30pm

The latest forecast still shows up to have a Winter Storm Warning from 6pm this evening thru 6pm Friday.  Ice accumulations up to .3 of an inch, with snow accumulations from 1-4 inches possible.  Low tonight expected in the mid-20's.

Still nothing on radar as far west as the Texas Hill Country but that should be changing this evening.

This Winter just keeps getting crazier.  Around mid-morning on Tuesday, we're expecting the leading edge of frigid Arctic air to make its way into East Texas.

So, first, we are expecting showers and thunderstorms, some possibly severe and even tornadoes are not out of the question.  Then here comes the cold and extremely gusty winds.
