November 8, 2011 We definitely need the rain here in the Lufkin/Nacogdoches area, but it looks like we could get an extra punch with today's expected rainfall.
A strong cold front should be pushing through the Pineywoods later this afternoon bringing with it the possibility of heavy rain (yay!) and severe storms (dang!). As of 9am, no watches nor warnings have been issued for the area.
October 17, 2011 By the time dawn rolls around on Tuesday morning, a vigorous cold front will be rolling through the East Texas area. Hopefully we'll get some needed rains, but two things are certain...colder temperatures and strong winds.
The winds could spell big trouble for fire danger...in fact, a fire weather watch has been issued for East Texas.
Check out some videos of a major dust storm that rolled through the Lubbock area earlier today that was caused by the same front coming our way.

September 8, 2011 The worst Summer drought in Texas history continues to linger on.
Not only can we not get hardly a drop of rain from any of 14 named storms so far, last week Tropical Storm Lee gave us gusty North winds that have led to the worst wildfire outbreak in our history.
And now there's Tropical Storm Nate in the Gulf...and Nate could provide relief, more wildfire headaches, or none of the above.
September 7, 2011 Wildfires have been devastating the state since the weekend, but the biggest and most destructive fire has been the one in Bastrop County near Austin.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has released a video that documents some behind the scenes action and facts...what really amazes me is how fast the fire travels in the last few seconds of the video...check it out after the jump.
September 5, 2011 Numerous wildfires continue to burn out of control across Central and Northeast Texas this morning, and unfortunately, the weather is only going to make it worse with winds gusting to near 30mph and no mention of rain.
Despite the country’s diligent precautions, Hurricane Irene left a path of destruction in her wake. It was enough to even scare Spider-Man, who sounded a little intimidated by Irene during this interview with a local ABC reporter. Even superheroes need to evacuate sometimes.
Whenever natural disasters strike, news stations often send out a few poor saps to report from the scene. With Hurricane Irene, we typically saw wind-whipped, rain-soaked correspondents in various locations talking about the storm’s fury.
But if there’s an award for Most Deserving of Hazard Pay, it has to go to Washington, DC Fox affiliate WTTG’s Tucker Barnes.
Hurricane Irene is on her way and preliminary reports suggests she’ll be a big one. To get an idea of just how big though, check out this aerial video of Irene filmed from the International Space Station as it passed over the Eastern seaboard.
August 23, 2011 An earthquake epicentered in Virginia occurred Tuesday afternoon, with people in Washington, DC, New York, Ohio, North Carolina, Massachusetts and Toronto reporting they felt the tremors, as well.
Reports thus far indicate the quake registered a 5.9 on the Richter scale.
August 17, 2011 I've tried it all...I've washed my truck, opened an umbrella in the house, scheduled a picnic, I even went jogging...all kinds of superstitions in order to bring on the rain --- but still nothing.
This drought could be all my fault...for the first time in my life I bought some land that has a nice pond on it...however, that pond is about to all but disappear.
