Jones joined the Monkees -- a pop-rock group formed for a TV show of the same name -- in 1965, and sang lead on many of the group's hit songs including 'I Wanna Be Free' and 'Daydream Believer.' He was such a teen idol back in the 1970s that he was even featured as Marcia's object of lust on an episode of 'The Brady Bunch.'

Jones is survived by his wife Jessica and four daughters from previous marriages.

Here's a look back at a few of his most note-worthy moments.
