As my 3 children haven gotten older, fewer are the times that they call me a 'cool' dad.  However, when they learned that I had the chance to speak to Peyton List recently, I became a 'superstar' dad...at least for a little while.

List, who plays the part of Emma Ross on the Disney TV show 'Jessie' will be at the Lufkin Convention Center Saturday for the Great Kid Escape.  I had a chance to talk to her recently and the full interview will be aired Friday morning during the Merrell in the Morning Show.  But here are some insights about Peyton List that I'd like to pass along.

Most importantly, she may be an actress, a model, and a star, but she came across to me as a vibrant, sweet, and beautiful young person.  You can tell by her tweets and postings on her Facebook page and Instagram that she is teenager enjoying life to the fullest.  She doesn't put up a wall between her and her fans.  She doesn't change her personality to fit what others may expect.  She is who she is and God love her for that.

She has certainly gained a lot of notoriety thanks to her role on 'Jessie' but she is already a seasoned actress at the age of 15.  She has been in movies and shows such as 'The Sorcerer's Apprentice', 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid', 'Cashmere Mafia', and '27 Dresses'.   Her schedule is demanding, but when she does get some down time, she likes to spend it hiking and biking with her family in California.

Speaking of family, she has a twin brother, Spencer, and younger brother, Phoenix, and they are all involved in show business and modeling.  Peyton loves to spend time at theme parks and no ride is too scary to ride for this self-proclaimed dare devil.  She is also a big fan of fashion and has quite a bit of say in the wardrobe that she wears for the show 'Jessie'.

It's been quite a while since she has visited Texas, but I promised her an abundance of 3 things that we're definitely known for - friendly folks, great food, and hot weather.

Oh, by the way, there is a special meet and greet with Peyton that is happening Friday night in Nacogdoches, and we have two more slots that are available.  Below, there is a small audio segment from my interview with her.  In it, we talk about her 'cup song' from the video earlier in this blog.  She mentions the name of her best friend who was in the room while she recorded the 'cup song'.  E-mail me at dannymerrell@townsquaremedia.com with the name of that friend and you'll be in the drawing for the special meet and greet.

A few things to note -  I'll be drawing for the winner on Friday morning in the 9am hour.  The winner gets two passes ONLY for the meet and greet.  Only two people will be allowed for the special meeting,  that could be a parent and one child, or it could be two kids only.

Okay...here's the audio snippet.
