Dr. Bill Shelton Fishing Adventure this Saturday – Wanna Fish for Free?!

19 years ago, Dr. Bill Shelton of Lufkin had a vision to help area cancer patients who were having troubles in some very basic areas, such as finding enough money to pay for gas to get to and from treatments.

Dr. Shelton got together with some of his fishing buddies and launched the Dr. Bill Shelton Totally Awesome Fishing Adventure on Lake Sam Rayburn benefitting indigent cancer patients at the Arthur Temple Sr. Regional Cancer Center.

Even with his passing a few years ago, Dr. Shelton's legacy grows with each passing year.

This year's tournament will be held on Saturday from 6 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Cassels-Boykin Park.  There is a $2500 first place prize for the winning string of bass, plus there is also a big bass pot.

The entire family is encouraged to come on out as there will be a Kid's fun zone area, we'll also have BBQ sandwiches, and a number of great raffle items.
