In what is becoming a familiar event to a reoccurring area, a 4.1 magnitude earthquake shook parts of East Texas Monday afternoon.  The tremor was centered just 2 miles west-northwest of Timpson in Northwestern Shelby County.

Persons in about a 30-40 mile radius reported feeling the quake but there were no immediate reports or damage or injuries.  A 4.1 tremor is considered on the lower end of a light earthquake on the Richter Scale, and there about 30,000 of these 'lighter' earthquakes reported world wide per year.

The area around Timpson has been subject to quakes in recent years stirring speculation that the tremors are the results of man-made events.
