1929 - Sonny James is born in Hackleburg, Alabama. Nicknamed the Southern Gentleman, he registers 16 straight #1 singles from 1967-1972, including "Running Bear" and "Heaven Says Hello." He joins the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2006.
