1989 – Universal Records releases The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band album “Will The Circle Be Unbroken, Vol. 2.” Guests include Johnny Cash, Roy Acuff, Levon Helm, John Denver, Chris Hillman, Roger McGuinn, Ricky Skaggs and Bruce Hornsby.

 

1982 – “Mountain Music” peaks at #1 for Alabama on the Billboard country singles chart.

 

1969 – Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan tape the first installment of “The Johnny Cash Show” at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. In the audience: future singer-songwriter John Hiatt.

 

1967 – Elvis Presley marries Priscilla Beaulieu at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas.

 

1967 – Tim McGraw is born in Delhi, Louisiana. Married to Faith Hill in 1996, his ear for outstanding songs gains him multi-platinum albums and more than 15 years of hits, including “Please Remember Me,” “Back When” and “Live Like You Were Dying”.

 

1929 – Sonny James is born in Hackleburg, Alabama. Nicknamed the Southern Gentleman, he registers 16 straight #1 singles from 1967-1972, including “Running Bear” and “Heaven Says Hello.” He joins the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2006.
