They say it's not polite to point.  In this case, it's a necessity because I'm pointing to the guy in this picture as one of the best role models a young man or woman could have.

His name is Bryce Caraway, a senior at Nacogdoches High School.  He'll be graduating in June of 2017. Caraway is not only a great student and leader, but for the past 3 summer breaks he has also been an employee of Nacogdoches ISD. Caraway has accomplished many things as a member of the Dragon family inside and out of the classroom. He has worked for Plant Services at NISD for the past three years. Two years he worked
painting facilities and one year of custodial work.

“I love it here,” said Caraway. “It’s home to me. I love the atmosphere. I love the people here. Nothing is new to me because I’m around them [NISD employees] 24/7.”

He is currently working for Plant Services by helping paint facilities at the district. He works as a temporary employee during summer vacation. While school’s in session, Caraway is the Captain of the NHS Police Explorer Program, Lieutenant of the NHS SCERT Program and he is actively involved in Gear Up.

The NHS Police Explorer Program works with the Nacogdoches City Police Department to learn what it’s like in the field. Student members can visit with the police officers to learn about their experience as a police officer and have the opportunity to accompany police officers on ride-alongs.

“It’s a day in the life of a cop,” explained Caraway.

Outside of the school district, he is a youth speaker at North Street Church of Christ. Also, Caraway earned the honor of being named Deep East Texas Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year for 2015.
