"Sometimes you need to pull the chef out of the kitchen and let him taste the food he's serving", I stole  borrowed that quote from a friend of mine concerning this story.

A father of a 2nd grader at an elementary school in Ohio was beyond frustrated that his daughter couldn't grasp the common core math being taught at her school.  The most frustrating part for Doug Hermann (and for many parents across the land) was that he didn't understand it either.  So, he decided to make a point by writing a check to the Melridge Elementary School, but instead of using good 'ol regular numbers, Hermann used common core math equations and told the school to figure out how much the check is for.

Now, it should be pointed out that Hermann never sent the check to the school, but he posted a picture of the check to social media and it has certainly touched a common core nerve with many parents across the U.S.  Hermann's picture and explanation of the check on his Facebook page has been shared over 30,000 times.

What do you think of common core math?
