Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood will pay tribute to some of country music's most well-known duets at the 2016 CMA Awards in Nashville next month. The couple are set to sing a medley of hits during the ABC broadcast.

Brooks shared the news during a press conference in Dallas on Thursday (Oct. 13). This keeps in line with what "Forever Country" Shane McAnally told Taste of Country and other media about the direction of the 50th Annual CMA Awards: there will be less focus on new music and singles, and more on heritage artists and songs.

Thus far, only six artists have been officially announced as performers during the 2016 CMA Awards. Dolly Parton will also receive the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award, and while both are the focus of the "Forever Country" mashup, neither have been announced as performers. There will be no performance of the 30-artist, three-song mashup, as it would take too long to rehearse the song.

Brooks was in Dallas to reveal his new single "Baby, Let's Lay Down and Dance." The song is from an upcoming studio album, set for a Nov. 11 release as part of a massive box set at Target. He and Yearwood will team up for their own duet on that album. Last month Brooks shared that "Whiskey to Wine" was a tribute to classic duets. They'll also share several songs on the new Christmas Together album, their first duets album, which is also scheduled to be released on Nov. 11.
