Granger Smith Walking 100-Miles For The Second Time To Support Our Troops [VIDEO]
Texas Country singer Granger Smith is continuing his tradition of walking 100 miles to support our men and women in uniform.
How many miles is 100 miles? Last year, Smith walked from Austin, Texas to the Fort Hood post in Killeen, Texas. This year, he has partnered with the Boot Campaign to raise awareness for soldiers’ needs and to help with their transition back home after combat. His second annual walk will start this Sunday, April 15th.
Here’s what he had to say about last year’s experience:
“From the moment my boots hit the pavement on Ft. Hood last year to end the 100 mile walk, I had one persistent thought: I’ve got to do this again,” says Smith. “It was so emotionally and physically compelling that this sort of thing can’t be done only once. I’m so excited to lace up my boots again.”
Through the sale of military combat boots (like the ones Smith will be wearing on his walk), the Boot Campaign donates proceeds to a group of partner charities that work with soldiers healing from a variety of physical and emotional combat wounds, embodying the campaign motto that, “When They Come Back, We Give Back.”
Here’s Smith’s latest video, ‘That’s What I Do With It’, which to no surprise, supports his cause and gives us a preview of the journey he’s about to embark on for the second time. What a great message and campaign. Great work, Granger!
