Hank Williams, Jr. has yet to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, but a new online campaign aims to change that.

Williams is the subject of a new Facebook page titled Get Hank in the Hall, where country music fans have banded together to argue their case for Bocephus' inclusion in the Hall of Fame. The renegade country singer is, of course, the son of the legendary Hank Williams, who was one of the earliest inductees into the Hall. But though Hank Jr. spent the early part of his career in the shadow of his legendary father, by the mid-to-late '70s — after a series of successful, but not particularly original releases — he honed his own highly individual style of country that incorporated elements of blues and rock for a fresh sound and approach that launched him into superstardom.

The singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist scored a long string of hits that included landmark albums like Hank Williams, Jr. and Friends, Family Tradition, Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound, The Pressure Is On and many more. His supporters argue their case in an online petition at Change.org, pointing out that Williams has sold 70 million albums, won 7 CMA and 7 ACM Awards (including multiple Entertainer of the Year wins) and charted singles on the Billboard country charts over the course of six different decades. According to the petition, he is one of only eight artists to do so — and the other seven are all in the Hall of Fame already.

Williams was also inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2007, and honored as a BMI Icon in 2008. He is still going strong, recently releasing a new single, "Are You Ready for the Country," with Eric Church. The Waylon Jennings cover is the lead single from a forthcoming album  Williams will release via a new deal with Nash Icon Records. It's About Time is set to bow on Jan. 15.
