Nature can be very freaky.  We all know that when you cut the head off a snake, the body of the snake can still slither for a while thereafter.  Heck, the detached head is still a danger to strike. 

A fish that still flips and flops after having its head removed wouldn't seem to be that big of a deal, but when the head and guts have been separated from the fish for 15 minutes, you would think it would be safe to scale the fish.

Apparently, that's not the case...at least not with this bowfin.
