Highway 59, FM 2021 Intersection Getting Set for Major Construction

According to a press release from the Texas Department of Transportation, the intersection of US Highway 59 and FM 2021 will be undergoing some major renovations soon.  That's because when it's all said and done, Highway 59 will be going under 2021. 

Through the years, traffic on these roads have increased dramatically, which has led to numerous accidents, some of those involving fatalities.  Construction of the Highway 59 underpass will start in the Fall of 2013 and will take approximately 25 months to complete.  The project will affect about 1.3 miles at FM 2021.  The $18.8 million contract was awarded to Webber, LLC.

In other news from TxDOT, the restoration and widening of FM 1475 will start in the Fall and should take around 6 months to complete.  This $1.2 million contract was awarded to Pinto Construction Company and will affect 1.5 miles between FM 841 to FM 326.
