Highway 59 Lane Closure Set to Take Place This Week in Lufkin

Work crews with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) are scheduled to do some evening and late night work on US 59/South First Street in Lufkin this week.

The center lane on Highway 59 from the southbound flyover to Whitehouse Drive in Lufkin will be closed from around 5 p.m. through 4 a.m. This is scheduled to take place each night before work is completed early Friday morning. The southbound Highway 59 flyover will remain open during this time.  Once motorists exit the flyover, they will be forced to move into the inside or outside lane all the way to Whitehouse.

This road work is a continuation of the water blasting on the east loop. Crews will be going back and spot-checking and blasting a few areas as the weather allows for the next couple of weeks.
