This Christmas marks the 100th anniversary of one of the most celebrated moments to ever happen in warfare.  In 1914, German and British soldiers at the front lines declared their own truce and sang Christmas carols and actually exchanged gifts with each other.

Sainsbury's, a supermarket chain in the UK, has recreated the story in a video advertisement.  The fact that this is ultimately an ad may dull down the warm and fuzzy feeling for some, but it is a well done video of an actual event.  And this event certainly captures a wonderful part of the Christmas spirit.  It also helps to know that all of the proceeds from the sale of the candy bar will go to the Royal British Legion.

Merry Christmas!
