Houston Pastor Denies Funeral for 93 Year Old Woman Due to Tithing

A 93 year old Houston woman who recently passed away was denied a funeral and burial with the church that she had attended for decades. 

According to a video report, Barbara Day, the daughter of the deceased Olivia Blair, was told by the pastor of the Fourth Missionary Baptist Church that because her mother had not attended the church nor made donations over the past years, she was no longer considered a member and therefore not entitled to a funeral.

In an interview with KRIV, Day said that she told the pastor that her mom had attended that church and had tithed for many decades, but over the past few years she had not been able to do so because of her failing health.  However, the pastor, Walter F. Houston, did not budge from his stance and has not done so in follow up calls from the media and other representatives.
