Hudson ISD, East Texas Mourn the Loss of a Beloved Police Officer

I can't believe the tragic and shocking news. My wife, a teacher at Hudson ISD, received a message from the district's superintendent confirming that campus police officer Bryan Holley had passed away on Friday during school hours.

I don't know the details of his passing, all I know is that Hudson ISD, East Texas, and for that matter, this planet, has lost a wonderful person.

A post on the Hudson Volunteer Fire Departments Facebook Page stated the following:

This afternoon Hudson Fire members responded to assist EMS on a medical call at Bonner Elementary. We were saddened to know the patient we were working so hard to help. Officer Bryan Holley was a valuable and loved partner of the Hudson Fire Department. He would frequently go outside of his required duties to assist on accidents and other emergencies in the community. He passed away in the performance of his duties. The noble duty of protecting our children each and every day. Standing between them and the evil in this world. And he did it with a smile. He was a great example of an honorable law enforcement officer and friend to all of Hudson’s kids. The Hudson Fire Department will miss Officer Holley. May his family have comfort knowing the impact he had. Rest easy brother!

I recently was the master of ceremonies at the Hudson ISD convocation. During the event, Superintendant Donny Webb had me announce various employees who had been working at Hudson for 5,10, 15 years, etc... I called out Officer Holley and he made those in the gym smile and laugh as he milked his acceptance walk to the presentation table.

That type of behavior from Bryan is not surprising. Whether he was working a school sporting event, directing traffic before and after school, or just having a conversation, Officer Holley always wore a smile. It was an infectious smile and personality. No matter what kind of day you were having, a wave from Bryan on Highway 94 as he was directing school traffic would lift your spirits.
