There's still a lot of August to go, but first the few week and a half of month, Brandon Belt has been on fire.  The former Hudson Hornet now plays 1st base for the San Francisco Giants and is batting a torrid .471 for the month. Thursday afternoon Belt got a rare start as the clean up batter and did he ever deliver.  On his first at bat, Belt belted a towering drive over the right field wall to give San Francisco an early 3-0 lead.  The Giants ended up with a 4-1 win over Milwaukee.

Unless some strange things happen over the last third of the season, it looks like the Giants will not repeat as World Series Champs.  San Francisco hit a mid-season slump and find themselves last in their division.  However, Belt is trying to close out strong and judging by his August numbers, he's off to a good start.
