Well, here we are.

Week 10 of high school football in East Texas.  This is the final week of regular season play on area gridirons.  Many teams already know their fate when it comes to the playoffs, but there are still some teams fighting to get in to the post season party.

Let's start with the race that's probably raising the most eyebrows.  In District 20-3A, Carthage, Jasper, and Center have already punched their ticket for the playoffs, but there's still one more spot to be decided in this 5 team district...and that will be decided tonight.  Huntington and Diboll will square off tonight in Diboll with the winner advancing to the playoffs.  Granted, neither the Red Devils nor the Lumberjacks have a stellar record this year, but, hey, this is a chance to be in the playoffs and that's all that really matters.  Whoever wins will probably face undefeated Fairfield in the first round of the playoffs next weekend.

Let's take a look at other East Texas districts:

In 5a, all is already set for the Lufkin Panthers as they will be in Conroe tonight for their finally regular season game and then they return their next Saturday, November 16th to take on Humble Atascosita in the first round of the playoffs.

In 4a, the Nacogdoches Dragons will be heading to the playoffs for only the 2nd time since 1992.  The Dragons are already set as the runner up team in Division 1 (John Tyler is 1st, Whitehouse and Lindale will be 1 and 2 in Division 2).  Nacogdoches will face either a team from Mansfield or Lancaster in the first round of the playoffs.

In 19-3A, Rusk, Mexia, and Groesbeck are still vying for the final playoff spot in that district.

In 10-A, Alto, San Augustine, and Shelbyville are competing for the final two playoff spots from that district.

Other teams across from East Texas that are already assured of a spot in the post season include West Sabine, Garrison, Tenana, Mt. Enterprise, Corrigan-Camden, Groveton, Trinity, Elkhart, Newton, Colmesneil, Apple Springs,
