Today is Friday the 13th, but it was a Saturday the 13th five years ago when devastation was unleashed on the Upper Texas Coast and Eastern Texas.  With 120 mph winds, Hurricane Ike came ashore near Galveston.

A total of 112 people were killed and 23 remain missing five years later.  Hardest hit by the storm was the area around Crystal Beach with many structures washed inland or out to sea.  The storm became the 5th costliest in American history with over 30 billion dollars in damages.

What do you remember about the storm?  How were  you affected in East Texas?
