Big Thicket Brewery in downtown Lufkin has recently updated their Facebook page, and it seems as if they're "permanently closed."

Short answer? Yes, Big Thicket Brewery is closed for good.

We were in the middle of calling Lufkin bars to see what everyone had planned for St. Patrick's Day, when we decided to shoot an email over to the brewery, rather than call.

Imagine our surprise when we saw a few folks sharing their condolences about the businesses' recent 'change' to operating hours.

At first we thought people were mistaken, since the Brewery isn't normally open early in the weekdays, but then we saw that  status was changed to "Permanently Closed"

Big Thicket Brewery has been a cool hangout spot for many Lufkinites and folks from surrounding areas. But with all their equipment being sold, the brewery culture might actually end up growing further.

In the meantime, if you don't mind a bit of a drive, Fredonia Brewery in Nacogdoches should be officially opening their doors on March 4th.
