Jason Aldean Promises New Music In 2016

Jason Aldean is gearing up for another busy year. The "Gonna Know We Were Here" singer tells Taste of Country that he is headed back into the studio to work on the follow-up to his 2014 release Old Boots, New Dirt.

"We're working on it right now," he said during the run-up to the CMA Awards. "Been in the studio a little bit. Hopefully a new single [will be out] some time in the spring and album in the summer."

While he didn't reveal any of the songs he's been working on, he did say the album will be more rock-heavy than Old Boots, New Dirt.

"We didn't really have any big, rock tempo records for this record. Honestly, that's one thing we were lacking," he admits. "It was more vibe-y than the big tempo stuff we always had. The new album has a lot of the big tempos, a lot more rock-oriented stuff on this next one."

A new album brings the promise of a new tour, and one thing Aldean wants to stay away from this time around is anything fire-related.

"I got a year and a half in without getting burned real bad," he says of his current Burn It Down Tour. "I had a couple sparks go down my shirt. I'm over the flames at this point. Maybe we'll get some snowflakes on stage. Figure that out."
