Saying that 2012 will be the year of Jason Aldean is quite the understatement. While the singer’s past few years have been amazing — and have brought four consecutive No. 1 singles and multi-platinum selling albums — the country rocker has added one more career achievement to that list after selling out a second show at Atlanta’s Aaron’s Amphitheatre at Lakewood in only a matter of hours.

Aldean originally had one show scheduled for May 19, when he will be stopping at the amphitheater on his My Kinda Party Tour, which sold out in minutes. He then added a second show for the night before (May 18) to give fans the opportunity to see the Georgian up close and personal. As expected, the second show also sold out in hours, marking the first time a country music artist has done so that quickly in the history of concerts at the venue.

“That’s just ridiculous,” Aldean said in a statement following the news. “I don’t even know what to say.”

Next up for Aldean is the Academy of Country Music Awards on April 1 — there, he will wring his hands in hopes of taking home awards for just a few of his six nominations in addition to a performance during the red carpet event. Aldean is up for Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year (‘My Kinda Party’) and Video of the Year (‘Tattoos on This Town’), as well as Single Record of the Year and Vocal Event of the Year, both for his duet with Kelly Clarkson on ‘Don’t You Wanna Stay.’

Aldean’s latest single from his ‘My Kinda Party’ album is ‘Fly Over States,’ a song penned by Neil Thrasher and Michael Dulaney. The tune is currently just outside of the Top 20 on the country singles charts and is showing no signs of slowing down. Should the song hit the top of the charts, it will be Aldean’s fifth consecutive No. 1 hit and would mean all five releases from his ‘My Kinda Party’ have reached the leading slot.

Next month, Aldean’s My Kinda Party Tour (also featuring Luke Bryan and Lauren Alaina) picks back up with stops in Texas, Kansas and Missouri. Click here for a complete list of dates where the tour will be headed.
