Josh Turner didn't need long to choose his favorite '90s song and band. He was listening to them the day before.

Talking to ToC, he shared, "Just yesterday I was listening to Diamond Rio's Greatest Hits ... One in particular was 'Mama, Don't Forget to Pray for Me.' Man, it's a great song. Love me some Diamond Rio."

"Mama, Don't Forget to Pray for Me" was a Top 10 hit for Diamond Rio in 1991 and one of their early songs. It's not the first Diamond Rio song people think of when pressed to name some of their '90s successes ("Meet In the Middle" usually comes first), but that Turner chose this song speaks to his knowledge of the group and the era. He would have been a teenager growing up in South Carolina at the time of the group's biggest successes.

Turner talked to Taste of Country's Billy Dukes prior to the 2018 CMA Awards in Nashville. Numerous artists were asked to help put together the ultimate '90s country music playlist. We even asked Garth Brooks! Alan Jackson, David Lee Murphy and Sammy Kershaw were just a few of the artists mentioned throughout several dozen interviews.
