1974 - George Jones leaves Tammy Wynette permanently.

 

1954 - John Anderson born in Orlando, Florida. Borrowing vocally from Lefty Frizzell, he earns the Country Music Association's Horizon award in 1983 and nets hits with "Swingin'," "Money In The Bank" and "Straight Tequila Night".

 

1949 - Randy Owen born in Fort Payne, Alabama. He becomes the lead singer for Alabama, whose blend of country and Southern rock yields numerous gold and platinum honors and a place in the Country Music Hall of Fame.

 

1930 - Buck White, of The Whites, born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Along with daughters Cheryl and Sharon, he earns bluegrass-inflected hits in the early-1980s with "Hangin' Around," "You Put The Blue In Me" and "Give Me Back That Old Familiar Feeling".
