For the first time since 2010's "All Over Me," Josh Turner has scored a No. 1 single with "Hometown Girl."

After years of releasing songs that didn't reach the top mark, "Hometown Girl" brings Turner back to the country radio forefront, topping the Mediabase country radio airplay chart this week.

“I feel like this song kind of basically speaks to my female fanbase,” Turner says in an interview with Nash Country Daily. “I feel like for my female fans, there’s definitely bits and pieces of it that they can just kind of pick and choose from. It’s like, ‘Oh, that’s me’ or ‘Oh, this is me’ or whatever. I’m seeing that every night that I play it. The girls just love it. For the guys, I think that’s the kind of girl that they’re looking for — or they already have one or at least they hope they do. I love the message of the song and the melody is so catchy.”

Written by Marc Beeson and Daniel Tashian, "Hometown Girl" is the lead single from Turner's 2017 No.1-debuting album Deep South, and according to MCA Nashville, has tallied over 87 million streams thus far.

Turner is currently gearing up for his summer tour, which stretches from May through September and includes nationwide dates from California to New York. Turner also makes an appearance at the legendary Grand Ole Opry in Nashville on April 28.
