Thompson Square singer Keifer Thompson's mother, Carrol Thompson, has died. According to People Magazine, she passed on Wednesday morning (Feb. 20) in her hometown of Miami, Oklahoma.

As a result, the duo will be canceling upcoming appearances at least through the weekend. According to Thompson Square's website, this includes their concert on Thursday, Feb. 21, in Mayetta, Kan., at the Great Lakes Ballroom in the Prairie Band Casino & Resort, as well as a performance on Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.

On Tuesday (Feb. 19), the duo was on NBC promoting their newly-released children's book, Time to Get Dressed.

Keifer Thompson was born and raised in Miami, Okla., and his parents have been residents there their entire lives.

In 2012, the Miami News Record did a piece on Thompson Square's homecoming in which the singer shared his favorite part of going back to his hometown. "It’s always good to go home and go to the house I was born and raised in," he said, "And seeing Mom and Dad."
