Kelly Clarkson hadn't even made it inside the Beverly Hilton for the 2018 Golden Globes on Sunday (Jan. 7) when she created one of the night's best moments. While on the red carpet the pop-country superstar spotted one of her idols, Meryl Streep, and it was all over.

Clarkson was in an interview with Ryan Seacrest and nearly keeled over — Streep was at the end of a staircase and caught her eye, and she couldn't continue. It caught Seacrest by surprise, too — he thought he was saving Clarkson from a tumble down the stairs, but really her shock was a result of seeing her childhood idol.

"Oh my God, that's Meryl!" Clarkson exclaims in the adorable clip, a wave of disbelief washing over her face.

"Oh my God can I meet you? I'm such a fan! I love everyone, I've just adored you since I was like eight," she then calls out to the movie star. Streep was just as gracious to Clarkson, greeting her with an affectionate hug and kiss on the cheek, holding her hand as they chat for a few moments on the carpet.

Clarkson is attending the Golden Globes for the first time to present one of the night's awards, while Streep is nominated for Best Actress, Motion Picture, Drama for her portrayal of Kay Graham in the film The Post.

Clarkson is nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance at the 2018 Grammy Awards for her latest single, "Love So Soft." "Thank you so much @PriscillaRenae @mozellamusic and Jesse Shatkin for writing me such a badass song! Love So Soft is so much fun to sing and perform, and this Grammy nomination is for all of us! #teamworkmakesthedreamwork," Clarkson writes in a tweet reacting to the exciting nomination.  The Grammys air live from Madison Square Garden on Sunday (Jan. 28) on CBS.
