Kelsea Ballerini has had a banner year. She released her debut album The First Time, garnered her first No. 1 with "Love Me Like You Mean It," shared the stage with Taylor Swift and has been recognized by the country community with several awards nominations.

Now, she has another accolade to add to 2015. Billboard has announced that Ballerini will be honored with the Rising Star award at their Women in Music event in New York on Dec. 11. The "Dibs" singer will also perform at the 10th annual event, which airs on the Lifetime network on Dec. 18.

"At 22, Kelsea Ballerini already has a career to kill for, from a hit song to award nominations and even a stop at the famed Grand Ole Opry," says Janice Min, co-president and chief creative officer of Guggenheim Media’s Entertainment Group, which consists of Billboard and the Hollywood Reporter. "Much like Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift before, Kelsea is a powerful songwriter and singer that has Nashville a buzz. Expertly bridging the pop-country gap, her songs have heart and it is only the beginning."

According to a press release, the Rising Star award is given to an artist whose "success on the Billboard charts and talent demonstrate a clear path to success."

Ballerini released a second single this year in "Dibs." The song is currently moving up the charts.
