Steele’s in Nacogdoches and KICKS 105 are helping the Nacogdoches High School Golden Dragon Band raise funds for its spring trip.  Steele’s has placed a collection box in its local store to collect donations through Nov. 1, and the stores corporate office also plans to give toward the cause.

The band will head to Orlando, Fla., May 1-4 to perform at a national competition. Each band member going on the trip will pay $1,300. The band booster organization helps fill gaps for those students who have worked hard at raising funds but come up a little short.

“We want to help ensure they go after working so hard to earn money,” band booster president Rachel Thurmann said. “We don’t want to leave them behind.”

The Steele’s fundraiser culminates with the donation presentation on Nov. 1 which will occur during a live broadcast from 3 to 5 p.m. Portions of the band will attend the event and perform before heading to Tyler for the Dragon football match up against John Tyler.

Steele's is located at 3801 North Street.
