1978 – Emmylou Harris goes gold for the first time in her career with the “Elite Hotel” album.


1963 – “Ring Of Fire” burns Johnny Cash’s name into the #1 position on the Billboard country singles chart.


1956 – Guitarist Duncan Cameron born in Utica, New York. Following a tour of duty with The Amazing Rhythm Aces, he joins Sawyer Brown in 1991, contributing to “Thank God For You,” “Treat Her Right” and “The Boys And Me”.


1944 – Roberta Streeter–a.k.a. Bobbie Gentry–born in Chickasaw, Mississippi. The Academy of Country Music names her best new female in 1967, on the heels of her suspenseful recording “Ode To Billie Joe.” Her song “Fancy” later becomes a hit for Reba McEntire.
