Once again, the Houston Texans did not make the Super Bowl. However, a Houston player did take home an awesome award this year.

Texans' defensive end, J.J. Watt was the recipient of this year's Walter Payton Man of the Year award. The award goes to players that take bold steps in their communities to bring on positive change.

After Hurricane Harvey hit Houston in late August, J.J. set a goal of raising $200,000 to help out hurricane relief efforts. In just 19 days, that goal looked pretty small, considering that the amount raised hit $37 million.

Do the math. In just under three weeks, J.J. Watt had raised 185 times his original goal. I think it's only fair to award him the Man of the Year. And, I'm not the only one that thinks this.

This is Charlee. She's a local Nacogdoches girl that knows how great J.J. Watt is, and she's got her own message for him.

As you can see, just about every true Texas person - yes, even all the way out here in Deep East Texas - is a fan of J.J. And, just because he and his teammates didn't bring home the Super Bowl title, doesn't mean that we think any less of him. So, thank your awesome message, Charlee! We love him, too.
